Forms of light and colour. Artistic stained glass from the Province of Rome at the Casina delle Civette

Fifteen craftsmen will display their stained-glass creations in the Annex of the Casina delle Civette: it offers a look at both a distinguished past and simultaneously a promising future.
The splendid Art Nouveau windows, decorated with plant and animal themes designed by such important artists as Duilio Cambelotti, Umberto Bottazzi, Paolo Paschetto and Vittorio Grassi, and the magical atmosphere created in the silence of a villa set in the heart of historical Rome make this site particularly suited to an exhibition of stained-glass works by local craftsmen who took inspiration from the Casina itself.
The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight the importance of protecting and supporting work that often straddles the borderline between art and craftsmanship, which draws on historical and local traditions, and which can produce original creations using innovative motifs and techniques. The exhibition wishes to draw the visitors’ attention to the distinguished past of stained glass as well as its undoubtedly promising future, whilst also increasing the public’s awareness of one of the most widely practised crafts in the province of Rome.
