Cast Iron Vases

Several cast iron vases of precious manufacture, crowned the massive cornice. They were of two alternating types and they still cover the building and appear to be analogous to those crowning the roof of the theatre glazing.

All these vases come from the same Parisian workshop, that of J.T. Ducel.
According to a guide to the complex, written in 1842 by Giuseppe Checchetelli, there were antique statues decorating the attic, but it is more likely that, even from the beginning, these vases stood there.
